CE Abdullah says Taliban’s ‘Mansouri Operation’ Failed in North

3454335435555Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah at the Ministers’ Council meeting on Monday said the Taliban’s “Mansouri Operation’ has failed in northern Badakhshan and Kunduz provinces of Afghanistan.

Last Thursday, the Afghan security forces have managed to retake Zebak district in Badakhshan province which was briefly fell to the Taliban.

The forces are currently in battle with the insurgent in Kunduz city to retake the Taliban under controlled areas including Khanabad-Kunduz highway and Qal-e-Zal district which was fell to the group weeks ago.

Praising the efforts of security forces, Chief Executive Abdullah Said: “Zebak district was important in terms of security issues, and it was the point, where Mansouri Operation of the Taliban has failed.”

“Their [the Taliban] operations were partially defended in Kunduz province, and the [Afghan forces] operations are underway in other areas as well,” Abdullah added.
