The outbreak of a seasonal disease, referred to as typhoid, in Afghanistan, has emerged concerns. The disease, also known as typhoid fever, has similar symptoms to that of the COVID19.

Residents of eastern Nangarhar province say that typhoid has quickly spread among the people, and two to three members of each family are likely to be infected.

An Ariana News correspondent in Nangarhar province said that most of the symptoms of the disease are very similar to typhoid, according to doctors, and that it may be a tropical kind of disease that grows in the hot climate.

Moreover, in Helmand and Kabul too, the disease is said to have spread widely, although doctors in Helmand province say it is the Coronavirus.

Confirming the tip-off, the Ministry of Public Health has expressed its concern over the spread of some other seasonal diseases – those having similar symptoms to that of the Coronavirus.

Wahid Majrooh, a deputy of the MoPH, said that a team had been sent to Nangarhar to investigate the matter.

It is noteworthy that the World Health Organization has previously warned that focusing on the fight against the Coronavirus could lead to the development of some other diseases.

People complain about rising market prices – Nangarhar https://ariananews.af/people-complain-about-rising-market-prices-nangarhar/ Tue, 31 Mar 2020 14:28:24 +0000 https://ariananews.af/?p=381065 Following the outbreak of Coronavirus and increase in its positive cases in Afghanistan, many provinces have been quarantined. The residents of Nangarhar complain about the rise in the prices of raw materials saying that the government doesn’t pay attention in controlling the market.

Since the outbreak of Coronavirus in Afghanistan, the government has restricted commuting in the cities.

People in Jalalabad eastern city of Afghanistan urge the government to take serious actions in controlling the economy.

Most of the stores, supermarkets, shops have been closed in eastern Nangarhar province, and there is a remarkable decrease in crowds.

The governor of Nangarhar said that controlling the prices in the market in the time of emergency was a tough job.

This comes as the outbreak of COVID-19 has surprised many countries, yet most of the developed countries have been able to control the situation – thanks to their wealthy economy.

The Afghan government said that a charity fund, “Corona Fund”, has been established to help the needy. So far, 100,000 USD and 450,000 AFN have been donated to this fund.

This comes as Nangarhar has reported one positive case of the COVID-19 so far. Yet the government has announced severe restrictions to help prevent the outbreak of the virus.
