The Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah voiced serious concern over the voters’ registration process and discussed with government officials to find a solution.

Abdullah noted that people who go to a registration center, they must have their identity cards with them and only the people who register will be able to vote in the forthcoming elections.

He also warned that if the voters’ registration process faces failure, the political situation in the country would be challenging.

The Chief Executive also called on religious scholars, tribal elders, monitoring institutions and government officials to make further efforts on the widespread participation of people in voters’ registration process.

The voter registration process was launched last Saturday by President Ghani and the first lady Rula Ghani.

According to officials, voter registration process is expected to be held in two steps.

Voter registration process is scheduled to begin in provincial centers, then in districts, according to the agenda of the election commission.

Afghan Forces Launch Winter Operations in 12 Provinces https://ariananews.af/afghan-forces-launch-winter-operations-in-12-provinces/ Fri, 29 Dec 2017 14:51:37 +0000 http://ariananews.af/?p=246482

Afghan forces have launched winter military operations against the Taliban and other insurgent groups in 12 provinces of Afghanistan’s 34 provinces, officials said Friday.

“The winter operations launched on 22 December and it is ongoing in 12 provinces right now,” said Gen. Mohammad Radmanish, deputy spokesman for the Defense Ministry.

The Interior Ministry spokesman, Najib Danish, said the winter operation is a continuation of “Operation Khalid”. He added that these operations are ongoing in northeast and southern Afghanistan at the moment.

Helmand and Badakhshan are among provinces where the level of threats are high and have a complex geography, especially during the winter.

“Considering the threats which exist in Badakhshan districts, the current forces in the province cannot succeed if they are not supported by air forces,” said Faisal Baikzad, the governor of Badakhshan province.

“Our winter plan is to secure the surrounding of Lashkargah City and seize more areas in three districts where the war is going on right now,” said Hayatullah Hayat, the governor of volatile Helmand province in the south.

There are some preparations in the strategic Kunduz province which has fallen briefly to the Taliban in 2015 and 2016.

“We have created reserved forces in the district levels for conducting operations so every district could combat with their own challenges,” said Gen. Abdul Hameed Hameedi, the police chief of Kunduz province.

Taliban Targets Afghan Forces by Using ‘Dead Bodies’ https://ariananews.af/taliban-targets-afghan-forces-by-using-dead-bodies/ Tue, 16 May 2017 12:24:49 +0000 http://ariananews.af/?p=220736 SariThe Taliban insurgent group is planting explosives inside the dead bodies of humans and animals in order to target the Afghan security forces in northern Afghanistan, an Afghan police official claimed on Tuesday.

Afghan officials in Baghlan assert that the Taliban fighters have acted “the worst type of crimes” against human beings in the province.

Provincial police chief claimed the insurgents have killed a resident of the province in allegation of cooperating with the government and has placed bombs inside his dead body to target the Afghan forces.

“Last night, these fools and tyrants have killed the man and they left his dead body across the road in Cheshmay Shir area and planted explosives inside his dead body…they have made him a suicide bomber to kill Afghan forces or tribal elders,” Gen. Ekramuddin Sari, the police chief of Baghlan said.

On Tuesday, Police have managed to defuse the bombs which were planted inside the dead body of a dog which was placed in a coffin.

“A dog was inside the coffin, because based on our tradition, culture and religion when our people or elders see a coffin they usually gather around it to see who is the dead person and why it has been placed in the road,” Sari added,” the coffin was packed with explosives.”

Afghans are being the victims of the rivalry between the powerful countries in the region, the official said, adding, there are many foreign fighters from different countries in Baghlan province.

“… there are terrorists in Dand Ghori [district] from Chechenia, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Egypt … also in Dand Shahabuddin [district], they are acting as advisors or financial supporters for the group,” he stated.

Baghlan is among the extremely volatile provinces in north of Afghanistan, where the militant groups usually coordinate high-profile attacks against the Afghan forces to gain ground and sustain causality to pro-government forces.

Afghans Celebrate ‘April Fool’ by Killing too Many People https://ariananews.af/afghans-celebrate-april-fool-by-killing-too-many-people/ Sat, 01 Apr 2017 12:28:10 +0000 http://ariananews.af/?p=215330 April-Fools-Day_shutterstock_9078316 (1)

Too many Facebook users across Afghanistan took on their accounts to share some of the most shocking tales and news, ranging from killing high-profile officials to some of their closest friends.

It’s a way most Afghans back in the country celebrate “April fool”, the day when you tell a lie just for fun.

One Facebook user has written on his account like,” Just heard 40 of my friends passed away.”

Apart from killing their friends on social Medias, a remarkable number of Afghan internet-friendly users had fantasy trips around U.S. and Europe today. Like one user wrote on his Facebook,” trip to Berlin; Hope to make back to Afghanistan one day. Bye Kabul!”

For those who are familiar with the nature of April fool, today nothing is serious, or acceptable.

April fool, at the same time, provides a rare chance for some lovers in Afghanistan to express their feelings for their beloved ones.

Like this user who wrote,” I don’t know anything about [April] fool, but swear to God, I love you!”

For some people whom marrying or motherhood is a sweat and hard –to- gain dream, today is the opportunity to share their desires indirectly. Like this one,”Just noticed gonna be mom soon!”

But, here in Afghanistan even a boy can become a mother only in April fool day. As this face book user wrote in bold font that he is “pregnant”. But if you follow his post to the end, you can find out the April fool hash tag.

Even, Afghan net users didn’t spared president Ghani by mocking some of his public messages across the Kabul city, reading as he is “fully determined to rebuild Afghanistan by the force of its youths.”

However, it has been many years that Afghans do somehow commemorate the day by sharing funny and shocking lies, still there are some people who condemn the day as a harsh culture.

The Bayat Foundation has launched the hearing aid mission for the first time in Afghanistan distributing hearing aids to 500 deaf and/or hard-hearing people, mostly children.

At the event, acting minister Amena Afzali welcomed the assistance to disabled children as a valuable gift to the humanitarian, saying the people of Afghanistan are facing poverty and are unable to afford hearing devices.

She called on the government to have a special attention to the disabled citizens.

In his speech to the participants, the founder of Bayat Foundation Engineer Ehsanollah Bayat said that unfortunately, the disabled Afghans have been marginalized and have received less attention.

“The Bayat Foundation by the initiative of Mrs. Fatima Laya Bayat and with the cooperation of Starkey foundation has started for the first time assisting the deaf children. Bayat Foundation is committed to help those who have been marginalized in the country,” Engineer Ehsanollah Bayat noted.

Head of Starkey, Bill Austin, said at the event that they were committed to help deaf and/or hard-hearing people worldwide.

“Despite the security threats, we all came here to help the disabled people of Afghanistan,” Austin declared.
