A car bomb detonated near New Kabul Bank branch in southern Helmand province of Afghanistan on Thursday, killing 26 and injuring at least 59 others.
The blast has occurred in the provincial capital city, Lashkargah, at a time when governmental employees rush to get their salaries due to the upcoming Eid days.
Provincial governor spokesman, Omar Zwak, told Ariana News that a vehicle-laden with explosives detonated while Afghan security forces and civilians were gathered to collect their monthly wages.
He confirmed that at least 26 people were killed and 59 others wounded, adding that most of the victims cannot be identified as their bodies are burned.
Official said the wounded people are under treatment in the emergency hospital with some in critical condition.
Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
