Unknown men abducted the son of a businessman who was reportedly 8 years old late yesterday in Maza-e-Sharif, Capital City of the Northern Balkh province, informed local authorities.
“The child, 8, was kidnapped from 2nd district of Maza-e-Sharif City while he was returning from school back to home”, said Sherjan Durani, spokesman of Balkh Police Chief.
According to the local official, the child was abducted by unknown men riding a Hilux car type which was driven without license plate or plate number.
He added that investigation regarding the incident has already begun and efforts are underway for the release of the abducted child.
Incidence of criminal acts such as murder and kidnapping have significantly increased in the politically plagued northern province which was one of Afghanistan’s most secure provinces few years ago.
A businessman while transferring more than $4 million (USD) from Kabul was shot dead by some armed men in the same city yesterday.
