Afghan Wireless Communication Company (AWCC) has renovated a special lounge for businessmen in the domestic terminal of Kabul International Airport.

AWCC officials say that they are ready to cooperate in the implementation of public benefit projects in other local and international airports of the country.

“As a responsible company, we want to be involved shoulder to shoulder with our officials in every area of reconstruction that we can. We are committed to investing in Afghanistan and we will continue it,” said Aliullah Sarwari, CEO of AWCC.

Airports are the first landmark of a country that passengers experience when they enter, therefore the officials of the Ministry of Transport and Aviation and the officials of the Kabul International Airport welcome the AWCC’s move.

“Spring has arrived in our country. Humans do not sit idle in spring. If they sit idle in the spring, they will face hardship in the winter. The time has come for the development of our country. Our country needs rebuilding. The role of investors is very important here. National companies and businessmen must take part,” said Abdul Hadi Mohammad, head of Kabul International Airport.

Sediqullah Abid, administrative and financial deputy of the Ministry of Transport and Aviation, said: "It is out of the good feeling of the companies that they have cooperated with us in the development of Kabul airport and implemented some projects with their own money. We appreciate it."

In the meantime, AWCC and Kabul International Airport officials also signed a memorandum of cooperation (MoU).

Based on the MoU, AWCC will provide internet services for passengers in the lounge and will participate in other public benefit projects.

The construction of the entrance of the international airport is part of the agreement. The foundation stone was laid by AWCC and Transport Ministry officials.

“This MoU includes the provision of internet at Kabul International Airport by AWCC, the implementation of the fiber project, the construction of entrances, and other public benefit projects that you will witness in the future,” said Suleiman Khorram, head of the central zone of AWCC.

AWCC officials say the company partners with the government in the development of the country and in addition to providing job opportunities, it will facilitate new technology for the people.

The U.S. House Of Representatives has passed a legislation on evacuation of Afghans who assisted Americans during the 20-year war in Afghanistan.

“The passage of the CARE Authorization Act of 2024 further underscores the commitment made by the U.S. government to safeguard those who served shoulder-to-shoulder with our personnel during the twenty-year mission in Afghanistan,” Congresswoman Dina Titus said in a statement.

“The State Department has made it clear: There is no deadline for the crucial job of protecting Afghan allies. By authorizing the Coordinator for Afghan Relocation Efforts at the State Department, we can more effectively relocate and resettle those who have qualified to immigrate to the U.S. as a result of their service to this country.”

In 2022 the State Department established a specialized office called the Coordinator for Afghan Relocation Efforts (CARE) to streamline and coordinate the ongoing relocation and resettlement process for eligible Afghans from Afghanistan and Pakistan to the United States.

The CARE Authorization Act of 2024 will formally authorize the CARE office at the State Department for three years and grant important authorities to advance its mission. These include an extension of authorities to enter into personal services contracts as well as measures to streamline the transfer of funds to and from other agencies involved in the Afghan relocation mission.
