At least 150 Media Outlets Shut Down Since NUG Formation: NAI

Since formation of National Unity Government (NUG), at least 150 media outlets ceased to operate due to security threats and financial crisis, a media advocacy group, NAI said on Wednesday.

NAI Chief, Mujib Khelwatgar said that since last three years, the activities of media outlets have been decreased up to 20 percent. He warned that this trend could be harmful for media outlets.

NAI urged the government to support the media outlets and provide better opportunities for their functioning.

Sayed Aqa Hussian Fazl Sancharaki, the Deputy Minister of Publication at Ministry of Information and Culture said that the government cannot extend financial assistance to support media outlets, but he stressed that the government makes effort to ease the security challenges confronting media outlets.
