At least two people were killed and four others were wounded in an attack by a group of armed men belongs to a former commander of the Hezb-e Islami party, Bashir Qanet in Chah Abb district of Takhar province, the local officials said.
The residents of the district say the irresponsible armed gunmen shot people in a market that the police chief of the district along with three of his bodyguards were injured in the incident.
The Takhar Police has also confirmed the incident, saying the armed men of Bashir Qanet, former commander of Hezb-e Islami have clashed with an irresponsible commander in the district.
The main reason behind the clash among the two commanders has not been ascertained so far.
The Takhar districts have mostly faced brawls between local and irresponsible commanders.
Takhar is surrounded by two relatively volatile provinces, Badakhshan in the east and Kunduz in the west where Taliban militants are actively operating and frequently carry out insurgency activities in their various districts.
