Anar Dara district in the western Farah province has fallen to the Taliban after the militants started their attacks last night on the district, according to local officials.
Dadullah Qaneh, a member of Farah’s provincial council told Ariana News that the Taliban attacks on the district started last night and the police headquarter fell to the militants earlier this morning.
Meanwhile, Naser Mehri, spokesman of Farah governor said to the local media outlets that the district headquarter has been fallen to the Taliban but security forces still clash with the militants in district police headquarter.
Mr. Qaneh also said that severe clashes are ongoing between Afghan forces and the Taliban in the district center. He added that the district police chief is missing in the area.
The Taliban militant group issuing a statement also confirmed that they have captured Anar Dara district of Farah province.
