Amarkhel Resigns As Police Chief of Ghazni Province

General Aminullah Amakhel, Police Chief of southeastern Ghazni province has resigned from his position, officials confirmed Sunday.

The province police chief’s spokesman, Fahim Amarhil confirmed the decision and said that Aminullah Amarkhel resigned because of his personal issues.

Spokesman Amarkhil added that  Mustafa Mayar, investigative head of 303 Spin Ghar zone has been named for his replacement.

The government officials did not comment regarding the report so far.

General Amarkhel was appointed as the police chief of Ghazni province by President Ashraf Ghani in October 2015. 

It comes as Ghazni has been witnessing growing violence and instability during the recent months. The insurgent groups including the Taliban are actively operating in number of restive districts ofthe province.
