(Last Updated On: July 18, 2017)

Afghan forces’ airstrikes have killed at least 14 Islamic State or Daesh militants in eastern Nangarhar province, officials said Tuesday.

The Provincial Police Chief’s Spokesman, Hazrat Hussian Mashriqiwal said the airstrikes were conducted as part of the “Hamza” operation against Daesh in Achin district of the province which begun since four months.

He added that foreign fighters were also among the dead Daesh militants.

Achin is one of the restive districts in Nangarhar province of Afghanistan where the United States has used the largest non-nuclear bomb in its arsenal with the goal of destroying tunnel complexes used by the Islamic State insurgents.
