Airstrikes ‘Effectively’ Targeting Taliban, IS Militants in Afghanistan: MoD

Afghan Defense Ministry says counterinsurgency airstrikes have destroyed hundreds of Taliban and Islamic State (IS) militants’ hideouts this year across the country.

According to MoD, at least 324 senior commanders of the Taliban and 64 commanders of IS have been killed in Afghan security forces joint air raid, this year.  

The Ministry Deputy Spokesman, Mohammad Radmanish said that the security forces conducting more than 100 airstrikes on insurgents’ hideouts daily, which shows an increase rate compared to past. 

This comes as the U.S. Air Force has carried out a series of airstrikes on Taliban hideouts near the border with Tajikistan and China as efforts are underway to suppress the Taliban-led insurgency across the country.
