Officials at Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) have expressed concerns saying the country’s carpet weaving industry is the risk of ruin amid officials in Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) claimed that carpet industry exportation to abroad have increased significantly.
Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Spokesman Seiam Pesarlia said, “Officials at Ministry of Commerce and Industry have paid no attention to the country’s carpet weaving industry,but in reverse more options are provided for the following industry in Pakistan-Iran, this has caused the industry of carpets in the country to be decreased.
Meanwhile officials at Ministry of Commerce and Industry have rejected the allegation saying Afghanistan carpet industry production increased up to 28 percent last year.
Ministry of Commerce and Industry Musafer Qoqandi said, “In general the exportation of the carpets increased, we hope to increase the following product exportation by the end of this year.”
Economy experts said no efforts made to support carpet weaving industry in the country which is part of our identity in the world.
Economy expert Taj Mohammad Talash said, “Ministry of Commerce and Industry has done nothing to grow the following industry, there is no strategic plans to resolve the existed issues on the carpet production and industry.”
Officials at Chamber of Commerce and Industry have insisted that Afghan Government should do a lot to support the carpet weaving industry in the country, and enforce bills over the imported carpets into the country.
