Afghanistan To Face Huge Crisis Amid Tensions Among NUG Leaders

With the increase of tension between the two leaders of Afghanistan’s National Unity Government (NUG), President Ghani and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Abdullah Abdullah, the country will face a huge crisis, analysts said.
A number of political analysts have declared that the NUG leaders have forgotten their commitments to the Afghan people and their differences still not solved after two years.
President Ghani, and CEO Abdullah Abdullah have not yet addressed key elements of the political agreement signed between them during the formation of the National Unity Government.
The analysts warned the current system may collapse if NUG leaders do not solve their differences.
“Tensions started since the beginning of the National Unity Government. There will be the risk of country to fall if these differences not solved between the two sides,” said Muhammad Nadir Afghan, a political analyst.
Esmatullah Qanne, a political analyst stated, “Unfortunately, the NUG leaders failed to implement the big programs and forgot they have commitments to the people. Afghanistan is in a critical condition and war has increased in most parts of the country.”
These analyses occur at a time when tensions between government leaders over appointments in key government positions have increased.
Abdullah Abdullah, Afghanistan’s Chief Executive, has criticized President Ashraf Ghani for failing to work collaboratively and deemed him undeserving to serve the government.
The televised remarks late on Thursday raised fresh questions about the stability of the coalition formed in 2014 after both Ghani and Abdullah claimed victory in a presidential election and there were fears of armed clashes between their supporters.
Abdullah’s criticism comes at a particularly sensitive time, as Taliban fighters have made considerable gains in recent month in different parts of the country.
