The Afghan government in a press release strongly rejected the claims made by a Pakistan Frontier Corps General in the media that nearly 50 Afghan security personnel lost their lives as result of Pakistani retaliation in Chaman.
The press release said, ” It is with regret to notice Pakistani military violations along the Duran Lines occasionally which cause sufferings to the civilians living in those areas.”
Afghan government claimed as a result of unprovoked firing of Pakistani militias on 5th and 6th May in Chaman and Torkham two Afghan security forces and two civilians were martyred, and over 30 civilians wounded. In addition, the shelling by Pak militias caused displacement of thousands of villagers along the Duran line and four civilian vehicles were torched.
Pakistan said Sunday its forces killed at least 50 Afghan troops and destroyed five checkpoints in clashes along the disputed border two days earlier.
