Afghanistan Provincial Council Retakes Monitoring Authority

The Monitoring regulation of provincial councils has been introduced during a ceremony by the Chief Executive, Abdullah Abdullah.

Coherence of Provincial Council Affairs chief, Saeed Khamosh says the new regulation was finalized in consultation with the members of provincial councils.

“The authorities of provincial council has clearly described in the regulation. The regulation is a mechanism for the authorities of provincial council members,” Saeed Khamosh noted.

In the meantime, Chief Executive, Abdullah Abdullah called the monitoring regulation an important step in government’s accountability to the people.

“This is a big step regarding for the better role of law, fighting corruption, good governance and providing better services,” CEO, Abdullah said.

This comes as the government decided to edit a monitoring authority scheme after widespread protests by the members of the provincial councils.
