Afghanistan, Pakistan held talks on security issues on Tuesday

aaA trilateral security meeting was held between officials from Afghanistan, Pakistan and NATO-led Resolute Support (RS) mission in Kabul on Tuesday.

Director General Military Operations Maj Gen Mohammad Habib Hessari let the Afghanistan delegation and Director General Military Operations Maj Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza led the Pakistani delegation while RS Mission officials were also participated the talks.

According to a statement released by the Afghan Ministry of Defense, joint fight against the so-called Islamic State militants also known as Daesh in Afghanistan, issues over the Durand line, Pakistani military shelling Afghan soil and Pakistan attempt for military installation across the Duran line without coordination with Afghanistan were the key issues discussed.

The Afghan and Pakistani officials met after last month’s violent clashes between Afghan and Pakistani troops over the construction of a gate left four soldiers dead on both sides.

The trilateral security meeting was launched in 2005 and the three-sides held talks every three months either in Afghanistan, Pakistan or at the Resolute Support compound.
