Afghanistan grouped with New Zealand, West Indies, Uganda and PNG in T20 World Cup

Afghanistan have been placed in Group C with New Zealand, West Indies, Uganda and Papua New Guinea for the T20 World Cup 2024.

The draws and T20 World Cup 2024 schedule was announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday.

The tournament will begin on June 1 and it is hosted by the West Indies and the USA.

It will be contested by 20 teams, an expansion from 16 teams at the 2022 tournament.

The event is split up into four groups consisting of five teams, with the top two sides from each group then progressing to the Super Eight phase of the tournament ahead of the knockout semi-finals and final.

Afghanistan’s first match in the tournament will be against Uganda on June 3. They will then meet New Zealand on June 7, PNG on June 13, and co-hosts West Indies on June 17.

Afghanistan’s all group matches will be hosted by the West Indies.
