Afghan parliament approved General Taj Muhammad Jahid as the new Minister of Interior and Farid Hamidi as the Afghanistan’s Attorney General in a voting process.
Jahid could receive 190 vote of confidence from the lawmakers in the lower house of the Parliament, while Hamidi secured 200 vote of confidence from a total of 225 lawmakers present at today’s session.
Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi, the speaker of the lower house of the Afghanistan’s National Assembly urged President Ghani to introduce the nominees for the Afghan Ministry of Defense (MoD) and the National Directorate of Security (NDS) to put an end to the culture of acting-administrations in his government.
Despite of having a law for the administration of the governmental positions, a number of the Afghan institutions are being managed by acting-ministers and acting-directors for months and even longer.
Currently, Massoum Stanekzai who was rejected earlier by the Afghan parliament, is Afghanistan’s Acting-Minister of Defense since a period of almost one year and Muhammad Massoud Andarabi is the acting director of the Afghan spy agency.
