Afghan National Security Advisor heads to Russia after deadly Kabul attack

atmarAfghan National Security Advisor Mohammad Hanif Atmar heads to Moscow for talks with Russian officials on Afghan Air Forces equipments.

The two sides will talk about procuring and providing Mi-17 and Mi-35 helicopters to Afghan National Defensive and Security Forces (ANDSF), a tweeter account run by the office of the national security advisor of president Ghani said in a tweet.

Repair facility for Afghan Air Force equipment in Afghanistan and maintenance of existing Russian weapons used by ANDSF will be discussed, the source added.

According to the reports, the expansion of bilateral political and security relation between the two countries is also on the agenda.

The visit comes after the Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday expressed condolences to Afghan President Ashraf Ghani over the deadly suicide bombing in Kabul and reassured him of readiness to cooperate in anti-terror fight, Kremlin’s press service said in a statement.
