Afghan Forces Resist As Taliban Launch Coordinated Attacks In Helmand

The Taliban militants have launched coordinated attacks on the security forces outposts in southern Helmand province of Afghanistan, carrying at least two car bombings using armored Humvee vehicles.

Provincial governor spokesman Omar Zwak said the attacks launched early Thursday morning over Parchaw, Deh Adam Khan and Ab Pashak checkpoints in Gerishk district.

Shortly, the provincial government said in a statement that Afghan forces are “well-prepared to resist against any plan of the enemies” and the issue requires “no worries”.

“The armed-oppositions have detonated  two armored Hamvees near security checkpoints in Deh Adam Khan and Ab Pashak checkpoints,” the statement added.

As a result two soldiers and three policemen were slightly injured.

According to the statement, the third Hamvee packed with explosives was destroyed by governmental forces before it reach to the security post.

Currently, clashes are underway between Afghan forces and insurgents and the governmental forces are advancing as they receive air support.

The Taliban has not made a comment about the attacks yet.
