A German national has been arrested by Afghan commando forces in insurgency-racked province of Helmand.

The Afghan Special Operations Corps on Wednesday night released a statement saying, the commandos have arrested three terrorists including a German national during a military operation in Gereshk district of Helmand.

Initial reports suggest the man, who calls himself Abdul Wadood, was the military adviser of Mullah Nasir, commander of the Taliban’s “Red Unit” in the province.

The statement added that a large number of Taliban’s weapons, ammunitions and equipments were also seized during the operation.

The German embassy in Kabul has not made a comment about the report yet.
