2 people were killed and 19 others wounded in a bus accident in Salang highway, officials said on Wednesday.
“A 404 passenger bus has plunged off in Pul Khaki area of Salang highway due to high speed and lack of snow chains,” General Mohammad Rajab Neshat, maintenance chief of Salang Pass said,” the area is located in 3 kilometer to Salang pass and one child and an old woman was killed with another 19 people injured.
He reported the health condition of three injuries as serious saying the injuries have been taken to the closest hospital for treatment.
Following the incident, the officials announced that the Salang pass will be blocked for traffic due to storms.
In 2010, at least 165 people died after hundreds of people trapped in their vehicles by avalanches in the Salang Pass in the north of Kabul.
