74 Militants Killed in Afghan Joint Operations, Says MoD

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) has informed through a statement issued today that 74 militants were killed, 13 wounded and three others arrested in joint operations conducted by Afghan forces during past 24 hours.

“The operations were carried out and supported by Afghan Air Force in Nangarhar, Kunar, Ghazni, Paktia, Maidan Wardak, Kandahar, Urozgan, Farah, Badghis, Faryab, Jawzjan, Sar-e-Pul, Balkh, Nimroz, and Helmand provinces”, the statement reads.

According to the statement, 29 Taliban terrorists were killed in five districts of the southern Helmand province while the remaining militants including Islamic State or Daesh fighters have been dead in other provinces.

The Ministry of Defense also added that Afghan security and defense forces conducted 13 planned operations and 20 special operations in 11 provinces across the country over past 24 hours.

It further noted that Afghan Air Forces conducted 129 flight in support of army forces and carried out 28 airstrikes on bases and hideouts of the militants.
