Afghanistan Ministry of Interior (MoI) said on Tuesday that at least 51 insurgents killed in joint operations by National Police, National Army and National Security Forces over the past 24 hours.
Afghan security forces have launched countrywide anti-militant operations in response to a fresh campaign of attacks launched by the Taliban in recent months.
MoI noted that these operations were conducted in Nangahar, Laghman, Parwan, Kunduz, Faryab, Sare Pul, Lugar, Ghazni, Khust, Paktia, Heart, Farah and Helmand to suppress the armed oppositions of the government.
The ministry further added that another 24 rebels were wounded and three of them arrested by National Security Forces during the operations.
Afghan forces discovered confiscated and defused light and heavy rounds of ammunition during the operations.
During the same 24 hour period, Afghan National Police discovered and defused different types of IEDs placed by enemies of Afghanistan for destructive activities in Uruzgan and Farah provinces.
The operations came at a time when Afghan Security Forces are facing the annual warm weather offensive by Taliban rebels alone.
