At least 50 militants including a senior Haqqani Network commander and a Taliban’s so-called deputy governor have been killed in southeastern Paktika province of Afghanistan, the Ministry of Interior announced on Wednesday.
The statement released said, a prominent Haqqani network commander was killed yesterday along with his three aides in an operation by the Afghan police forces in Wor Mamay district of Pakika province.
The individual was identified as Wahid also known as Jamshid who was a famous commander of Haqqani network.
According to the report no police forces were killed or wounded during the operation.
Meanwhile, the statement added that at least 45 Taliban militants have been killed including Attaullah, the Taliban’s shadow deputy governor for Paktika province in an airstrike in Tandi Boza village, Terwa district of the province.
According to the report the militants were targeted while they were planning a coordinated attack, MoI statement further stated.
Some weapons and ammunition were also destroyed during the attack.
The Taliban group has yet to make a comment about the report.
