(Last Updated On: May 25, 2017)

At least five persons killed including a security officer and dozens wounded in a car bomb attack on Afghan security forces’ base in Washir district of Helmand province.

Spokesman of the governor of Helmand confirmed the incident and said the exact details of the causalities are not clear so far.

Afghan security forces have telegraphed their weakness to the Taliban for several years. The Taliban had previously overran Sangin’s district center in July 2016, but Afghan forces – backed by US air support – pushed the jihadists to the outskirts of the town.
