4 Afghan Soldiers Held Hostage By Taliban in Jawzjan

(Last Updated On: November 26, 2017)

The Afghan Taliban attacked a security checkpoint in Chakosh village of Aqcha district of Jawzjan province and held hostage at least four Afghan soldiers, local officials said.

The Jawzjan Police commander, Faqir Muhammad Jawzjani claimed that the checkpoint was collapsed in coordination of an Afghan police officer with the Taliban group.

Previously, the Ministry of Defense has rejected the involvement of Taliban influential members in these attacks and blamed the regional intelligence behind these incidents.

The Afghan Army and security forces faced a lot of problems because of the increased number of attacks of the Taliban and ISIS across the country, especially in Jowzjan province.

The Taliban is rapidly expanding in northern Afghanistan and there are a chance that more villages and towns will fall in the hands of the movement soon.
