Provincial governor spokesman Ataullah Khogyani said the Islamic State fighters were killed during the last 24 hours in two separate air attacks in Nazyan and Kot districts of Nangarhar.
15 militants including a key commander were killed in Nazyan district and at least another 8 militants were killed in Kot district where a weapon cache was also targeted, he added.
According to the report a number of weapons and ammunitions were also destroyed in the second attack.
The attacks comes as President Ghani ordered the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) on Friday to launch a major operation against Daesh-linked terrorists in Nangarhar province.
Nangarhar, which borders Pakistan, has been the main area where Daesh has managed to carry out high-profile attacks.
