20 Afghan National Army soldiers were killed last night in Taliban attacks in Balablook district of Farah province, said Dadullah Qaneh, a member of the provincial council.
He said that a military outpost of Afghan forces also fell to the Taliban and the insurgents have captured all weapons and munitions of Afghan forces in the outpost.
According to the local official, 12 Taliban militants were also killed as the result of counter-attacks by Afghan security forces.
The military officials in Farah province have yet to comment regarding the incidents.
Farah has recently witnessed a significant increase of violence where the Taliban militants have many times staged deadly attacks against Afghan forces.
38 Taliban insurgents were killed in the same district of Farah province after Afghan forces backed by NATO forces carried out joint military operations against the militants.
