18 Killed, 8 Injured in Khost Suicide Attack

At least 18 people killed and 8 others wounded in a suicide attack in a crowded area of the Khost city, the capital of southeastern Khost province, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said.

A suicide car bomber has attacked Afghan police providing security to US forces at 8:30am (04:00 GMT) on Saturday near a stadium and bus station in Khost City.

MoI in an statement confirmed the incident and killing of 18 people and 8 people injured including two children. But, the provincial police commander of Khost said 12 people killed and 10 others wounded in the incident.

However, the chief of Public Health in Khost said at least 14 people killed and eight others wounded in the incident.

The armed Taliban group took responsibility behind the incident.

This comes as Afghan people mark today (Saturday) as the first day of the holy month of Ramadan which is a public holiday in the country.
