At least six Taliban militants were killed and eight others wounded in an operation conducted by the Afghan army commando in the provincial capital Farah city, an official said on Wednesday.
Mohibullah Mohib, a spokesman for Farah police told Ariana News that the special operation was conducted at Gogahkan and Ruj areas of Farah city on Tuesday night.
According to Mohib, at least six Taliban insurgents including a group’s local commander have been killed and eight others injured during the raids.
The Taliban commander was identified as Asad, who was in involved in destructive activities in the province, Mohib added.
The local Taliban insurgents have confirmed the incident.
Mohib added that no casualties have been inflicted to the Afghan commando forces during the operation.
It comes as on Sunday night the Taliban militants stormed military outposts in Gulistan district of Farah province, killing more than 20 soldiers and wounding several others.
