14 inmates released from Taliban-run prison in Helmand

The National Directorate of Security (NDS) – Afghanistan’s spy agency has released a group of 14 prisoners including teenagers from a Taliban prison in southern Helmand province of Afghanistan, NDS announced on Monday.

A statement released by NDS said that four Taliban group members who were operating as the group’s jailers in Greshk district of Helmand province were also arrested during the military raid by the agency’s special forces.

According to the statement, the militants were operating under the supervision of the Taliban group commander Mullah Mazlumyar.

In a video footage released along the statement, the teenagers claim they were sexually abused by the Taliban insurgents.

The Taliban group has not made a comment yet.
