At least ten militants were killed and ten others were wounded as a result of counter-terrorism raids conducted by the security forces in northern province of Baghlan, officials said.
The police of Baghlan said the operations were conducted in Baghlan-e-Markazi district where Taliban militants were forcibly taking money from the locals.
“We have cleared 12 villages from Taliban presence,” spokesman of Baghlan Police HQ, Ahmad Javed Besharat said. “About 20 people are killed and wounded and 5 bombs have been defused.”
The operations lasted three days, he said, adding the police were making every effort to ensure security of second round of polls.
