At least 16 militants including the Taliban shadow governor for Baghlan province was killed in a night raid by Afghan security forces in Dand Ghori area of the province, officials said on Wednesday.
Gen. Dawlat Waziri spokesman for Afghan defense ministry said,” last night, the commando forces of the Afghan National Army eliminated 16 enemies in the locality of Dand Ghori district in Baghlan province during a military raid”.
Waziri added that Mawlawi Lal, the Taliban so-called governor for Baghlan, his son and the group financial coordinator are among the dead insurgents.
According to the source, three militants were also arrested with one AK-47 and two pistols.
Baghlan is among the volatile provinces in north of Afghanistan where the Taliban anti-government group is widely active in a number of its districts including Dahana Ghori, Tala Wa Barfak and some other districts.
