Taliban’s Deputy Chief of Intelligence Detained in Balkh


Taliban’s Deputy Intelligence Chief for Balkh Province was arrested by the Afghan Intelligence Agency.

In a statement released by the National Directorate of Security (NDS), the Directorate said the individual identified as Mirwais had introduced himself as Rahbar and was collecting intelligence information about the governmental forces activities and whereabouts.

He was arrested during a special operative from Shir Abad area of Dehdadi district in northern Balkh province of Afghanistan, the statement said.

According to the press release, the Taliban destructive activities in the province would have been destroyed after the individual was detained.

Balkh is among the relatively secure provinces in north of Afghanistan where the insurgents are trying to deteriorate the security situation and increase their activities in some of its districts.

Taliban has not made a comment about the report yet.
