Widespread corruption in the implementation of projects: Ghazni Governor

Sat Jan 28, 9:59 am

The local authorities of Ghazni Province are highly concerned about the widespread corruption and lack of transparency in the implementation of projects in this province.

Ghazni Governor Muhammad Musa Akbarzada says “he has proofs that the Ghazni Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) has spent 28 million dollars in rebuilding the province last year while this figure does not match with the amount consumed by the relevant departments.”

Mr. Akbarzada said the difference in the figures is very high and for the clarification of the case, he will send the obtained evidence to the Capital, Kabul.

Soon the audit of the departments will commence to find out the major factors involved in the corruption, he added.

Meanwhile the Ghazni PRT representative ignored the claims of the Governor and said they have only spent 18 million dollars in coordination with the Ghazni Governor, Provincial Authorities, Government Agencies, US Embassy and the Foreign Ministries of Poland and United Stated of America.
