Two tons of narcotics seized in Nimroz

During the last fifteen days about two tons of drugs were seized by the police in Nimroz province, the officials said on Tuesday.

Nimroz police Chief Hajji Musa Rassouli said the smugglers intended to transfer these drugs to Iran, but didn’t succeeded. He said ten people were arrested on charges of smuggling these substances.

The Nimroz Police has increased their search operations to navigate the drug traffickers and has also been successful. Nimroz Police Chief said to limit the smuggling opportunities for the traffickers, central government should provide more facilities to the police.

Mr. Rassouli said the Nimroz Province because of having a common border with Iran, is the major rout for the drug traffickers.

Three hundred and eight kilograms of various kinds of narcotics including opium were seized on Tuesday morning, Mr. Rassouli added.

The increasing number of drug addicts in Nimroz province has created many concerns for the local residents of the province.
