Taliban’s participation in Bonn Conference

Taliban representatives can also participate in 2nd Bonn conference.

A Germen newspaper quoted German Special Representative to Afghanistan and Pakistan saying that the moderate Taliban can participate in 2nd Bonn Conference.

Discussion on Afghan peace process is one of the important agenda of this conference.

ATN reporter Nassir Ahmadi reported that.

According to Germen newspaper Deutsch Zeitungen; Michael Steiner German Special Representative to Afghanistan and Pakistan has said in Germen parliamentary defense committee that:

“Those Taliban groups who are moderate can participate in 2nd Bonn Conference and the organizers of this international conference are not against the participation of these Taliban”.

According to German newspaper reports, armed Taliban who fight the security forces are not involved among the moderate Taliban.

The agenda of the conference include, transition of security responsibilities to Afghan forces,  continuing international cooperation with Afghanistan after year 2014 and peace talks with armed oppositions.

German Special Representative to Afghanistan and Pakistan also said that:

“The One thousand participants of 2nd Bonn Conference also include 30 representatives of Afghan Civil Society”.

The issue of Taliban participation in 2nd Bonn Conference arise at such time that Afghan government earlier has said that:

“Afterwards, peace talks will be continued with Pakistan, not with the Taliban”.

2nd Bonn Conference is considered to be held on 5th December 2011 at Bonn City, Germany.

Earlier, Afghan government has said that:

“All the groups that would like to participate in Bonn Conference should participate as Afghan government delegates”.
