Several government officials are involved in drug trafficking: Baz Muhammad Ahmadi

Deputy Head of counter-narcotics department at the Ministry of Interior Baz Muhammad Ahmadi said there are low level government circles that are supporting drug trafficking.
However, they determined to seriously act against drug traffickers and the sectors involved in drug trafficking. He said he will resign from his position if been unable to curb this phenomenon.
He warned the drug traffickers to be prosecuted by police and justice agencies. He also informed about the arrest of a big drug smuggler from western Nimroz province who was under pursuance of security forces.
Mr. Ahmadi said the man is called Eisa and over the past year and a half, he has smuggled more than ten tons of drugs to Pakistan and Iran. His name was in the list of ten major drug dealers that are under pursuance of security agencies.
List of major drug traffickers in the country, was created ten years ago at the Ministry of Interior but the listed names are not clear yet.
Several times, high ranking government officials had claimed that many government circles are involved in drug trafficking but so far, the government has failed to identify these individuals and circles, and to hand over them to the justice institutions.
Drug cultivation and trafficking has been the major challenge for the government. According to some reports; drugs are a major source of funding the insurgency against the government in Afghanistan has always been the factors of high level corruptions.
