Senior Peace Council member killed in Kabul

One of the top members of the Supreme Peace Council of Afghanistan, Senator Arsala Rahmani was shot dead on Sunday by unidentified gunmen in Kabul, officials said.
Mishrano Jirga (Upper House of the Parliament) has confirmed the incident, saying Maulvi Arsala Rahmani has lost his life after he was targeted in the Dehbori area north of Kabul.
The Interior Ministry of Afghanistan has also confirmed the death of the Peace Council member and said investigations have been launched in that regard.
So far, no group and individuals have claimed responsibility for assassinating Rahmani.
Arsala Rahmani was the Deputy Minister of Higher Education during the Taliban’s regime and also had served as the Minister of Hajj and Islamic Affairs during the government of Burhanuddin Rabbani.
The chairman of the High Peace Council was also assassinated some months ago in Kabul.
