Security officials warn armed insurgents of huge operation in Western Afghanistan

The security officials in western Afghanistan warned the armed insurgents and Taliban of massive operation if they didn’t renounce violence.
The spokesman of Western Police Headquarters in Herat, Abdul Raouf Ahmadi, said the Afghan security officials and ISAF commanders in a joint meeting studied the plan of launch of military operation to disarm the irresponsible gunmen and suppress the anti-government armed oppositions in the western zone of the country.
He said the meeting decided to launch a massive operation against those who refrain from laying down the weapons.
During the meeting, the officials warned the Taliban militants of hug military operation against them if they didn’t join the government peace trend, he said. The decision came because of the increasing number of armed insurgents in western Afghanistan, he added.
Recently, the Interior Minister during his visit to Herat province had expressed concerns over the increasing influence of armed militants—reported of launching operation to disarm the armed groups from western Afghanistan.
According to the reports, over 200 people were killed and wounded during the armed clashes last year in western Ghor province.
