Roof collapse in Nangarhar kills 2, injures 50

At least 2 people were killed and 50 others wounded after a house roof collapsed during a Condolence recitation ceremony in Haska Mena district of eastern Nangarhar province, officials said.
The incident occurred around 11am Sunday in Shabi village where 2 women were killed and 50 others wounded, the district governor Israrullah Qarizada said, adding most of the wounded were women and children.
The district governor said with the cooperation of police and citizens the wounded people were shifted to the district and central hospital in Jalalabad.
Head Nangarhar Public Health Department Dr. Baaz Muhammad Sherzad said about 30 people were injured in the incident and most of them have returned homes after receiving primary treatment.
Haska Mena district, bordering to Pakistan’s Khyber Agency, is located 100km from Jalalabad, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province.
A similar incident had also occurred last year in Khogyani district of Nangarhar where dozens of people lost their lives.
