Qarqin District Governor in Jawzjan killed along with two family members

The Qarqin district chief and his wife and daughter were shot dead by an unidentified gunman in northern Jawzjan province, officials said.
Nazar Muhammad Naveed and his family were in their home late Thursday night around 10pm when an unknown armed man entered the house and opened fire on them, Jawzjan Police Chief Abdul Aziz Ghairat said.
In an exclusive interview to Ariana TV, the police chief said that the motive for the murder was not known and the murderer was also unknown.
Initial investigations indicate that the attack at Naveed’s home may have been a personal conflict, according to the police chief. However, they have not ruled out insurgent involvement.
The Taliban were in contact with the media and have denied responsibility for the murders.
According to some unconfirmed reports, the district chief and his family members were shot dead by his personal guard.
The slain has served as the district chief of several districts of northern Jawzjan for the last twenty years.
