Pashto Books Library opens in Balkh

For the first time a library of Pashto language books “Khushal Baba Ketabtoon” funded by the German government was opened in Mazar-i-Sharif City, the capital of northern Balkh Province.
The Library carries 4, 000 Islamic, Political, Cultural and Social related books in Pashto language, the Library officials said.
Chief of Balkh Information and Culture Department Saleh Muhammad Khalilq told the inaugural ceremony that cultural activities have grown and library maintenance has been improved in Balkh province.
A number of Pashto literature students celebrated the opening of Library, saying they were faced with deep problems in Pashto resources.
Along with the newly opened Library three other public libraries are also active which are under the supervision of the Balkh information and culture department.
Several private and other libraries related to the civil society organizations are also operating in Balkh province. Mostly young people are the library visitors in the province.
