The Taliban insurgents have killed an officer and two soldiers of the Afghan National Police in the Khogyani district of eastern Nangarhar province, sources said.
The slain policemen were performing their duties in Chapperhar and Pachir-Agam districts but were targeted when they were returning to their homes, spokesman of Nangarhar Police HQ, Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal said.
He said the militants attacked the personal vehicle of these policemen and shot them dead in the Ador area of Khogyani district.
Mashriqiwal added the driver was wounded.
No one has been arrested in connection to this incident; however operations have launched to arrest the culprits, according to spokesman Mashriqiwal.
The Taliban group has claimed responsibility for the attack, saying their operatives have killed two police officers and a soldier in the attack.
The southern parts of eastern Nangarhar province are among the areas of greatest unrest where the foreign and national forces have carried out many anti-insurgent operations.
