Ministry of Women Affairs seeks employment improvements for women in Nangarhar Province

Thousands of literate women in Nangarhar Province have been unable to find jobs according to the Ministry of Women Affairs.  Despite the fact that women have strong literary qualifications, Governmental offices have not hired them in Nangarhar, the minister said.

Hussun Banu Ghazanfar visited Nangarhar Province recently and stated the discrimination that causes joblessness is another type of violence against Women in that province.

She called Nangarhar one of the provinces where physical violence against women is at a low level.

The Minister of Women Affairs inaugurated a commission to eliminate violence against women.  The Nangarhar commission that is trying to eradicate violence against women will be lead by Gulagha Shirzai, Governor of Nangarhar province

The Independent Human Rights commission reported that violence against women in the eastern provinces has been reduced from previous levels.

The Human Rights Commission said a key reason that reported violence is now lower than before is that women in the eastern provinces are better informed about their rights and are more aware of how to report and prevent violence.
