Minister, MPs escape Baghlan attack unhurt

The minister of higher education and two members of the Wolesi Jirga survived a mine blast in Baghlan province on early Sunday.
The attack happened around 8am when the convoy of Minister Obaidullah Obaid and two Wolesi Jirga members, Obaidullah Ramin and Shukria Esakhail, struck a roadside mine in Baghlan province.
The minister and the MPs were traveling by car to Kundoz province to inaugurate a higher education institute. Three security guards were injured in the attack but the high-ranking officials escaped the attack unhurt.
A small conflict was also reported from the scene but security officials have not commented on other aspects of the attack.
According to Ariana Television reporters, the minister and the MPs have returned back to Pol-Khomry City of Baghlan.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the assassination attempt.
