Medical and Engineering Courses to be Taught in English

English language will soon be used for all medical and engineering coursework at the Medical and Engineering College of Kabul University.
President Karzai has recently emphasized the importance of moving from receiving instruction in native languages to learning lessons in medical college and Engineering College in the English language in order for Afghanistan to be better able to provide the best medical and engineering services for the people of Afghanistan. At a recent seminar of the Ministry of Higher Education called “National Improvement of Higher Education Systems” President Karzai stated that because modern textbooks are readily available in the English language, and since English is a universal language, he envisioned that the countries medical and engineering needs would be best served by using English as the base language for those two subjects.
Most of the professors at Kabul University have praised the new draft plan calling for English language implementation in the Medical and Engineering faculties, and said that there should be a huge evolution in the Higher Education system regarding English instruction to pave the way for college students to be ready to do University coursework in English.
Most of college students have called the Higher Education draft plan a positive step towards capacity building for the next generation.
The majority of medical and engineering college students believe there will be challenges implementing the new Higher Education draft plan quickly, but that the plan should be embraced as soon as possible.
Meanwhile some of the Professors in Kabul University pointed out the challenges and demanded the initial steps.
From one hand Ministry of Higher Education showed up its readiness and said Education system in Afghanistan needs to follow up a draft to reply all college students in Higher Education aspect.
It’s said being old education methods in universities and entrance examination at the colleges is the two main challenges for Ministry of Higher Education manually.
Meanwhile officials stressed the new programs and measurements which are in hands.
