Local government administration: District Governor posts are not political positions

Officials in local government positions claimed that district governor posts are not political posts and the position of district governor is subject to the same transparency requirements and expectations of non-corruption as regular government office workers.

44 district governors were invited from different provinces like Kabul, Maidan Wardak, Parwan, Kapisa, and Pajshir to attend the conference.  They were asked to increase their struggle against corruption and discrimination in their administrations.

While visiting the district governors Abdul Khaliq Farahai head of local government administration said  out of 457 governmental posts 37 posts are still vacant but the rest have been changed into non-political posts including the position of district governor.

Prior to this conference political activities of those in government cabinet roles often led to corruption at the country level, according to people who are trying to help Afghanistan overcome corruption problems.

Increasing of corruption has caused lot of serious concerns for Government and International society which brought up the International’s criticism against Afghan government.

President Karzai has recently stressing struggling corruptions at the country level while he visited officials in third main Power branches.

In the two years ahead President Karzai would focus on changes in his administration like internal reforms, struggle against corruption, good governance and better conditioning of the government.
